ARNDT Gallery History

 

Established by Matthias Arndt in 1994 as one the first contemporary art galleries with an international profile in former East-Berlin, ARNDT ran gallery outlets and representations in Berlin, Zurich, New York, Singapore and Melbourne. From 2012 ARNDT expanded its operations to the vibrant art landscapes of Asia - particularly Southeast-Asia and the Pacific region with ARNDT Fine Art running its premises in one of Asia’s newest art hubs "Gillman Barracks" in Singapore. From 2013 - 2017 ARNDT presented solo exhibitions and curated shows by established and emerging artists within Europe, Southeast-Asia and the Pacific region.

Matthias Arndt continues his operations with ARNDT ART AGENCY (A3) providing artist management, advisory services and staging exhibitions in the commercial and public sector in art institutions worldwide.

Matthias Arndt CV 

Born in 1968, in Frankfurt/M., Germany, Arndt is a contemporary art expert and advisor who ran his successful gallery business in Berlin with branches in Zurich, New York and Singapore. Spanning twenty-three years of operation, Arndt’s contemporary art galleries staged over 300 exhibitions worldwide, were represented in all major international art fairs, and published 80 artist monographs, catalogue raisonnés, gallery magazines and thematic publications in collaboration with major international publishing houses and editors. Matthias Arndt is the founder and Managing Director of Arndt Art Agency (A3).

Matthias Arndt was also Director of the guided tours and visitor services of DOCUMENTA X (1997) and created a dynamic arts management firm, artservices, consulting with clients such as: Volkswagen, Expo 2000, Berlin Biennale, Haus der Kulturen, and co-founded “Kunstherbst Berlin” (today’s Berlin Art Week). Arndt has lectured at the Institute of Culture and Media Management at the Berlin University, at Documenta IX and X in Kassel, the UBS Arts Forum in Wolfsberg and LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore. He is a member of the Asia Pacific Acquisition Committee of the TATE in London and was awarded Knight of the French “Ordre des Arts et des Lettres ” in 2002 by the French Ministry of Culture. Arndt is also the Chair of the BERLIN MASTERS Foundation, a charitable foundation to support artists based in Berlin.
